DHHS is considering a schedule change. Survey ends on November 7.

Thank you for participating in our survey. Your feedback is important.

We are gathering information about the possibility of changing from a 4X4 block schedule to either a traditional or a hybrid schedule.

The 4X4 block is what we have now - four 90-minute classes that are complete after a semester's time (18 weeks). Students receive a full credit for each passed class after the 18 weeks. In other words, each class is only 18 weeks long and a new set of classes is taken the second semester.

A traditional schedule is seven 50-55 minute classes taken every day for the duration of the year. The end of the fall semester in December is the midpoint of the class (with the exception of 9 week, 0.5 credit classes like health and personal fitness). Students receive 0.5 credit for each passed half-class each semester, a full credit by the end of the school year. In other words, each class is a full year long, with half credit given at the end of each of the two semesters. There is no schedule change after the holiday break (except for the 9 week classes previously mentioned).

A hybrid schedule is one that incorporates both of these ideas - the schedule is typically seven 50-55 minute year-long classes, with either block days in the week or certain classes scheduled as block for one semester.

We want to be sure we have considered everything, good and bad, before any decision is made. Please take a minute to complete the survey. Thanks for adding to the conversation!
